On Saturday, September 9, the Harris Theater for Music and Dance will host Harris Fest: Music + Dance in the Park, an all-day event spotlighting its Resident Companies. The celebration will run from 10am to 9pm and be entirely free to the public. Chicago Dancemakers Forum 2023 Lab Artists Benji Hart, Enneréssa LaNette (Praize Productions, Inc.), and Winfield RedCloud Woundedeye + collaborators will perform 2:00-2:30pm in Millennium Park’s Chase Promenade North Activation Tent.

This piece of work demonstrates the evolution of Black women in a complex society and her ability to navigate and excel through life’s hardships while shining  unapologetically. Performed by RIZE Pro-Elite professional dance company of Praize Productions, Inc. (PPI).

World After This One (Excerpt)

Looking through the lenses of three Black art forms—the queer street style of vogue, the Afro-Boricua dance and drumming tradition of bomba, and gospel music—World After This One uses movement and spoken word to examine how Black people have historically reclaimed the materials of empire to construct portals to impossible futures.
