Emma Draves is a dance-artist and educator navigating intertextual spaces of identity. Interested in balancing the idiosyncrasies of the individual with the survivalist need of community, Emma creates dances of kinesthetic narrative informed by trainings in modern, ballet, bharatanatyam, sociology, and Bartenieff/Laban Movement Analysis. Her work has been commissioned by Danceworks Performance Company (WI), and performed at NYU, Edinburgh Fringe Festival, and in concerts and festivals across Chicago. As an educator, Emma has served on faculty at Columbia College Chicago, College of DuPage, Northwestern University, and UW-Milwaukee.
