Consortium Member Organizations
Chicago Dancemakers Forum works in partnership with a Consortium of nine Chicago organizations (listed below) in long-term, mutually beneficial relationships that make use of shared resources and creative energies in support of dancemaking artists. With each partner, Chicago Dancemakers has agreed to develop collaborative projects, cross-promote activities, and engage in ongoing equity work.
Projects include public programs, short and long term residencies, presentations, and anti-racism training. Consortium member organizations may also support dancemakers with mentorship, shared facilities, and connectivity.
The Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events (DCASE)
DCASE is dedicated to enriching Chicago’s artistic vitality and cultural vibrancy. This includes fostering the development of Chicago’s non-profit arts sector, independent artists and arts businesses; providing a framework to guide the City’s future cultural and economic growth; marketing the City’s cultural assets; and presenting cultural programs for residents and visitors.
The Dance Center of Columbia College Chicago
The Dance Center of Columbia College Chicago's mission is to provide a comprehensive education for the dancer-artist, offering academic training leading to either a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance. The Dance Center also serves the community as Chicago's leading presenter of contemporary dance.
Deeply Rooted Dance Theater
Deeply Rooted Dance Theater is rooted in traditions of American and African-American dance, storytelling, and universal themes that spark a visceral experience and ignite an emotional response in diverse audiences worldwide. DRDT collaborates with nationally renowned choreographers, across the spectrum of modern, ballet, and African dance.
High Concept Labs (HCL)
HCL at Mana Contemporary Chicago supports artists and facilitates dialogue between artists, audiences, and staff. This increases access and transparency to the artistic process and fosters transformational experiences in an environment of experimentation and discovery.
Hubbard Street Dance Chicago
Hubbard Street Dance Chicago’s core purpose is to bring artists, art and audiences together to enrich, engage, educate, transform and change lives through the experience of dance.
Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago (MCA)
The MCA is an innovative and compelling center of contemporary art where the public can experience the work and ideas of living artists, and understand the historical, social, and cultural context of the art of our time.
Pivot Arts
Pivot Arts creates and presents adventurous and multidisciplinary performance often in unusual spaces. Our vision is that of a vibrant community where collaborations between artists, businesses and organizations lead to the support and creation of unique performance events.
Rebuild Foundation
Rebuild Foundation is a platform for art, cultural development, and neighborhood transformation. The work is informed by three core values: black people matter, black spaces matter, and black things matter. Founded and led by artist Theaster Gates, Rebuild extends the social engagement of Gates’ studio practice to the South Side of Chicago and beyond.
Ruth Page Center for the Arts
The Ruth Page Center for the Arts, an incubator of artistic energy and at the center of Chicago's dance history, carries forward the mission of its founder, international dance icon Ruth Page, to be a platform for developing great artists and connecting them with audiences and community.
